Damar is a small city located in Rooks County, Kansas and established in the 1880s by French-Canadian settlers, it is often referred to as the "Acadia of the West" due to its cultural heritage. The city is situated in northwest Kansas, approximately 318 miles from Kansas City and 374 miles from Denver, making it relatively accessible while still retaining its rural charm. 

Rooks County covers an area of 895 square miles, with 891 square miles of land and 4.6 square miles of water. The general surface of the county is rolling, with high bluffs along the south fork of the Solomon River and Paradise Creek.
