Originally built in 1788 as a stagecoach stop, the property currently serves as a bed and breakfast. It has retained its historic country charm while providing all the best amenities for today’s travelers. The lush, idyllic grounds include 4.78± acres of grassy lawn, fruit trees, gardens, plus a bridge over a stream leading into the hilly woods of Proctor-Piper State Forest. The location is close to the Village of Ludlow, home of Okemo Mountain Resort and provides the perfect home base for sightseeing and recreational activity in all seasons.
The Inn has 8 guest rooms with private baths. The room make up is 6 guest rooms and 2 suites. The owner’s quarters is separated from the Inn and offers not only privacy but it is larger than most with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths on two levels. The owner’s quarters at the Golden Stage Inn would be considered a luxury by most Inn standards. More than ample parking is available as well as a 2 car garage for the owners.
The Inn was extensively renovated after the present owners took occupancy in December 2010.
A walk way from one of the parking areas leads to the front door of the Inn. A stairway leads from the foyer to the 2nd floor. Off the foyer is a half bath and access to rooms #9 and #10. Room #9 is an ADA accessible guest room with 5' roll-in shower.
To the right of the foyer are the common guest areas that include, solarium, cookie jar room, dining room, living room w/propane fireplace and office. Also on this level is a very large commercial kitchen, laundry room, 2nd stair case to 2nd floor and another half bath. Access to the Owner’s quarters is from this level.
The 2nd floor of the Inn includes 4 guest rooms and 2 suites. A couple of these rooms have gas stoves.
There is a 3rd floor that is currently unoccupied.
Owners Quarters:
The owners quarters were added in 2010.in what was originally an old barn. The entry level has a living room, 2 bedrooms, bath, small kitchen, dining area and office. The 2nd floor has 2 bedrooms and a bath. The lower level is a 2 car garage w/storage.
Golden Stage Inn participates with 3 other Inns offering an Inn to Inn walking tour May through October which has proven to be extremely successful, boosting occupancy for all the Inns who participate.
The Inn currently maintains 2 sheep for petting, chickens for fresh eggs and Bees for Honey they serve and sell.
